Business Angels of Slovenia
Branko Drobnak is the President of Business Angels of Slovenia, the largest network for business angels in this CEE country. He has a lifetime of experience with setting up and managing companies and was the CEO of Poteza d.d., a well-known stock brokerage company based in Ljubljana. After serving as a member of Supervisory boards of numerous companies in the Southeast European region and as mentor in CEED Slovenia, he started the business angel club.
Business angels of Slovenia invest exclusively in companies with an innovative idea and a vision towards international expansion. The organization invests put o 300k in companies that have made an initial entry to the market with a working prototype.
Markus truly is an Austrian digital pioneer. In 1994 he and his brother founded immobilien.net, the first immo platform in Europe and market leader in Austria. In 2014 he sold immobilien.net successfully, being the biggest classified exit in Austria in that year. Since then Markus is a passionate serial entrepreneur and as active business angel he also invests in promising Austrian and international startups. 2015 he gained the title "Super Angel" of the Austrian Angels Investors Association and since 2016 he is board member of Startup300.
Austrian Angel Investors Association
Active for several years in the startup scene, Lisa has already been able to go through several stations and get to know the ecosystem from different angles. The passionate hobby photographer is particularly interested in projects with digital components and supports startups hands-on in their further development. In addition to her role as Managing Director at the Austrian Angel Investors Association, she is one of the co-founders of Female Founders and part of the advisory board of IdeenTriebwerk Graz.
After several years with McKinsey Daniel co-founded CityDeal and led the company as CEO until the acquisition through Groupon in 2010. He then became Managing Director of Groupon International until six months after the IPO. After Groupon, Daniel started several companies, particularly in the local commerce and SaaS space. Most notably Daniel is founder of Quandoo, a SaaS company for restaurants that was sold to Recruit Holdings in March 2015. Daniel holds a PhD in law from Vienna School of Law and an MBA from INSEAD. He lived and worked in Vienna, São Paulo, London and Singapore. Daniel is passionate about “online-to-offline” businesses and sales-driven marketplaces.
The doctor of Economics and mountain bike aficionado with roots in the international pharmaceutical industry is one of the most active business angels in Europe. Among his more than 30 investments are well-known startups like busuu, whatchado, tractive, mysugr, anyline and kiweno (www.hansmengroup.com). After two spectacular exits with Runtastic & Shpock, the AAIA president was awarded the "Best European Early Stage Investor" in 2016.
Nikolaus Hutter is the Founder of New Paradigm Ventures, an advisory firm focused on accelerating the shift to an impact driven economy. He serves as an Advisor on Impact Ventures & Investment to the WWF in Switzerland, as a Director for impact investment firm Angello Capital Ltd in the UK, and on the Board of Heifer International in the US.
Together with Impact Hub Vienna, he co-founded the Investment Ready Program, an accelerator for social innovators, and the CEE Impact Day, an annual gathering for impact investors and social innovators in CEE.
Prior, he led the impact investor network Toniic in Europe, and worked in the VC industry for over a decade.
Hungarian Business Angels Network
Antal is president of the Hungarian Business Angel Network. A business angel and entrepreneur since 2010, he co-founded Traction Tribe, a traction composer company helping European startups soft-land and scale in the United States. His investments include Commsignia, a connected car project, Madbarz, a street workout app and Publio, a self-publishing service provider. Prior to 2010 he worked for investment banks in Frankfurt and London as a derivatives trader. Antal holds a PhD in statistical physics. He firmly believes that the CEE startup communities have great potential and he plays an active role in building them.
Markus is a passionate entrepreneur with background in business and law.
Prior to his involvement in the Austrian startup ecosystem, he has been working as an on- and offline project manager in one of Austria’s largest event & digital agencies and as a consultant & coach.
He co-founded the crowd logistics startup checkrobin.com and managed the company for three years, before he joined the Austrian early stage venture capital firm Pioneers Ventures as a Managing Director. Therefore, his mission is to support outstanding European digital startups with smart money.
Located in Berlin, Axel Menneking is Managing Director of Deutsche Telekom hub:raum Fund GmbH and leads the international activities of hub:raum in Israel, Nordics and Western-Europe.
Together with the investment team he scouts and selects investment opportunities and helps portfolio companies to grow their business. In his international role he has build-up operations in Tel Aviv and develops an increasing network of international strategic partnerships for innovation sourcing and open innovation activities.
Before joining hub:raum Axel Menneking was holding various leadership roles in product marketing and product management in fast moving consumer goods, strategy consulting, internet startup and telecom environments. Axel has studied Industrial Engineering and Management and he likes hiking, skiing and building things that matter.
Selma Prodanovic is the founder of 1MillionStartups – the world’s leading startup gallery. She is an internationally awarded entrepreneur, angel investor and philanthropist. Named Startup-Grande-Dame by the media, she is co-founder and Vice-President of AAIA and Board Member of EBAN. In 2015 she received the “Best Pioneering Investment Initiative” EBAN Award.
Croatian Business Angels Network
Davorin Stetner is an investor, entrepreneur and an adventurer. At 29 years old, he thus became world’s youngest Formula 1 rights holder. He is CEO at his KREATOR GROUP which consists of several companies, brands and projects. Currently he is President of the Croatian Business Angels Network and serves as advisor of The Croatian President Mrs. Kolinda Grabar – Kitarović in her Economic Council.
Nikolas is a Director at GP Bullhound. He is a passionate and highly experienced investment banker with more than eleven years of experience advising communications, media and technology (CMT) companies on mergers and acquisitions as well as a broad range of other capital market transactions. Most recently, Nikolas was a Vice President at Arma Partners, where he advised a broad range of European CMT clients on mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to this, Nikolas worked for six years in Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division, serving European Media & Communications clients. In addition, he spent two years at Blackstone’s refinancing advisory (now part of PJT Partners). Nikolas has a track record of more than $40 billion of closed transactions to date. He holds a doctorate in financial economics from Leipzig Graduate School of Management – HHL.
